2020 EFFA season update
We'd like to give you an update on the 2020 EFFA season now that the province and city have begun to adjust the social gathering restrictions as part of COVID-19 relaunch strategy. This strategy consists of 3 stages with the first stage being implemented on May 14th. There have not been any dates identified for the remaining two stages.
Even with the changes made to the social distancing restriction, the 2020 EFFA season is still on hold. While the size of outdoor gatherings have been increased to 50, there still is the requirement to maintain social distancing of 2 metres. This will be the biggest challenge that we will have to overcome in order to start playing flag football. The AHS is reviewing the viability of allowing team sports to run with certain safety restrictions in place during the summer months. But those discussions are still in the preliminary stages and and we may not receive new information for a while.
The EFFA executive will continue to monitor the situation and the restrictions that are in place and enforced by the province and municipalities with the intention of having a 2020 flag football season. Any decision to proceed with a season will take into consideration the safety and well being of our membership.
As updates become available they will be communicated out to the team representatives. If you have any questions, please contact the league email at
